This week's reflection

After 9 months of posting threads and writing a newsletter, I’ve learned one major lesson: growth without direction is pointless.

At first, I was just sharing ideas - whatever came to mind, whatever seemed interesting. And while some posts performed well, I felt like I was running in circles. What was I actually building?

When you think about it, every piece of content should serve a bigger purpose. It should move you closer to a business, brand, or product, not just more engagement.

I’ve been shifting my focus toward long-term leverage, thinking beyond just audience growth.

If your content doesn’t lead anywhere, it’s just noise.

A lot of creators believe that posting more = growing more. But that’s not how it works.

I've seen people post daily, even multiple times a day, thinking consistency alone will bring results. But if your content lacks direction, it just gets lost in the algorithm.

Engagement without a clear purpose is a distraction. More posts don’t fix:

  • Unclear positioning – If people don’t know what you stand for, they won’t stick around.
  • Lack of monetisation – More followers don’t equal income. You need a business model.
  • Weak brand identity – If you’re posting random content, your audience won’t know why they should follow you.

The creators who win aren’t just consistent, they’re intentional.

Before you hit post, ask yourself:
➡️ Does this content move me closer to my long-term goal?
➡️ Will this attract the right audience, not just any audience?
➡️ Am I building leverage, or just chasing engagement?

Audience ≠ business

You could post viral content, rack up millions of views and likes—but if those people aren’t genuinely interested in your core message, it means nothing.

This is the problem with posting just for engagement. Over the last 9 months, I’ve seen many creators on Threads chasing reach with random viral topics. But none of it aligns with their core brand or business.

They get attention, but not the right kind of attention.

💡Coming Soon: 5 Business Models for Creators

I’m working on a 5 Business Model Guide for Creators. A simple breakdown of different ways to turn content into income, so you can see which model fits you best.

  1. Content + Ads (Audience Monetisation): Earn from ad revenue, sponsorships, and brand deals.
  2. Digital Products & Courses: Sell e-books, templates, and online courses based on expertise.
  3. Memberships & Community: Charge for exclusive content, coaching, or access to a private group.
  4. Services & Consulting: Monetise skills through coaching, consulting, or done-for-you services.
  5. Licensing & Brand Deals: Partner with brands or license content for passive revenue.

✍🏻 Quote of the week

Don’t build your empire on borrowed ground. Platforms change, algorithms shift - own your distribution.

Until next time,

Daniel
